International Hospitality Management Program

Rapid growth in the accommodation and food services industry is being driven by a rapidly growing tourism sector, and this will create employment growth for this occupation. British Columbia’s tourism industry is growing faster than ever. With $13.8 billion generated in revenue in 2008, tourism is outpacing mining, agriculture, and fishing as a leading industry for the province. Some would say that the secret to BC’s success lies in its stunning natural beauty. But there’s more to it than that! British Columbia is building a reputation for great tourism attractions and destinations. From zip trekking to hot stone spas and culinary tourism, British Columbia’s tourism businesses are giving the province’s 4.5 million overnight visitors a very special experience. Vancouver is rated as one of the top ten destination cities in the world and will continue to attract tourists in the near future. Now that the 2010 Winter Olympic Games have completed, it is expected that accommodation and food services will experience strong growth. The impact of the event will be felt throughout the province.

Graduates are employed by hotels, resorts, convention centres and restaurants. They assist with all aspects of guest services, presenting a positive impression of the business and industry. Workers in this industry are seen making hotel room reservations, registering arriving guests and answering enquiries regarding hotel or resort services in person, by mail, internet or telephone. They are responsible for resolving complaints, accurately processing financial transactions, and using computerized systems. Employees may also work in the Sales & Marketing, Human Resource department, Food & Beverage and Accounting departments, in both local and international hotels and resorts.

Entrance Requirements: Grade 12/GED or mature student status. Applicants must successfully complete the admissions interview and entrance assessments.


Total program hours: 640 Hours.
Full-time Program Length: 32 Weeks (7.4 Months).
Co-op program also available.
