Are you interested in the Law and our Legal System?

Legal Assistants perform secretarial and administrative duties in law offices, legal departments of large firms, real estate companies, land title offices, municipal, provincial and federal courts and government.

Upon completion of this program, legal assistants will develop an understanding of legal terminology, legal processes and common legal documents. They will work through projects in order to develop the skills needed to handle and format legal correspondence, and review and proofread outgoing
documents and correspondence to ensure that the documents agree with legal procedures and grammatical usage. As well, working on the skills necessary to work with filing systems, to control confidential materials and establish office procedures will also be part of the program.

Verbal and numerical abilities, as well as well-developed motor coordination, are assets in this occupation. Applicants should have an interest in compiling information, operating computers and other office equipment and speaking with people. Individuals must be able to work both individually and as part of a team.

Entrance Requirements: Grade 12/GED or mature student status. Applicants must successfully complete the admissions interview and entrance assessments.


Total Program Hours: 660 Hours.
Full-time Program Length: 33 Weeks (7.7 Months).
Practicum options available in some campuses – Work Placement Overview.
