Administrative Assistant and Medical Office Assistant Program
This program combines the breadth of knowledge of the Administrative Assistant program with the specific knowledge of the Medical Office Assistant program.
Administrative Assistants and Medical Office Assistants perform a variety of secretarial and administrative duties in doctors’ offices, hospitals, medical clinics and other medical settings and include a variety of administrative duties in support of managerial and professional employers. They are employed in offices throughout the public and private sectors.
Competition for these employment openings is expected to remain high as many qualified people look for positions in this field. To stay competitive, administrative assistants and medical office assistants must be able to adapt to changing methods and responsibilities.
Note: CPR, First Aid, Food Safe and WHMIS will be completed during the program.
Graduates of this program qualify for an Administrative Assistant diploma and a Medical Office Assistant Accelerated
diploma.

Entrance Requirements: Grade 12/GED or mature student status. Applicants must successfully complete the admissions interview and entrance assessments.
Prerequisites: Applicants for this program must also have excellent communication skills (composition), sign a criminal/medical waiver, obtain a satisfactory certificate of health from a physician, submit a criminal record search, and provide evidence of clear TB testing prior to acceptance. All must be done no more than 3 months before the start date of the program.
Total Program Hours: 900 Hours.
Full-time Program Length: 45 Weeks (10.5 Months).
