  • Develop and create web and desktop graphics for flyers, advertisements, promotional activities, websites and campus events.

These dedicated Early Childhood Educators came on their own time, and we provided the materials (and pizza) to make 5 different rhythm instruments. The Centres keep asking us “Where do your students get their great instruments?” so we responded by giving them this workshop.

Participants earned Continuing Education credits for the workshop.

Instructional areas of expertise could include: Instructional Design, Facilitation, Evaluation of Learning, Instructional Strategies, Technology and Media in Education, and Professional Practice.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provides electronic Instructor Course Content assessment at the end of every course as required by evaluation/course content review procedures and ensures that every student evaluates the course
  • Organizes and is responsible for instructor materials
  • Assesses learning achievement according to guidelines provided
  • Follows procedures for administering, recording grades and filing of assessments, recording, and reporting attendance
  • Assures that classrooms and labs are left in a clean and orderly fashion at the end of class

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Completion of an Adult Learning credential or equivalent, Master’s Degree in Education, preferably adult education, or a Ph.D. in Education
  • Five years’ experience in teaching and curriculum development at the post-secondary level or demonstrated success with equivalent experience in industry
  • Developed and delivered courses using current instructional methodologies such as: cooperative and collaborative learning, case-based learning, problem-based learning, and experiential learning
  • Demonstrated ability to work with people in a wide range of classrooms and other work settings, including cross-cultural environments

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Receives and disseminates all information such as Scope of Practice changes, regulatory requirements, and new competencies which may impact the delivery of programs.
  • Collaborates and consults with instructors and coordinators to determine and develop the educational requirements for all aspects of the PN and HCA Programs including clinical experiences for PN and HCA students.
  • Researches and recommends new course offerings (Post Basic) for both PN and HCA programs.
  • Researches and recommends appropriate agencies that would meet the identified educational requirements for students when the local coordinator is unable to do so.
  • Interprets the needs of the learner and match with appropriate learning experiences available at the placement agency when requested by the local campus coordinator or director.
  • Establishes and maintains relationships with internal stakeholders such as PN Coordinators, Nursing instructors, HCA instructors, Campus Directors, PN students, HCA students, and Regional Directors.
  • Establishes and maintains relationships with external stakeholders such as Clinical Coordinators from other educational institutions, human resources, management and support staff at placement agencies, regulatory bodies, Health Authorities, and the HSP Net support network.
  • Assists instructors and local coordinators in evaluating the appropriateness of curriculum, clinical experiences and makes necessary changes.
  • Reviews and compiles written evaluations of clinical placements in consultation with PN and HCA instructors and coordinators where necessary.
  • Collaborates with clinical placement agencies to procure and maintain clinical placement sites.
  • Establishes and maintains relationships with representatives of nursing and home care agencies in which students can be placed in order to maintain a variety of clinical practice sites for nursing and HCA students and keep current with new practices and standards.
  • Represents Sprott-Shaw at Interschool and HSP Net and communicates with agencies regarding plans for student placements (dates, student numbers, etc.).
  • Initiates the contracts (Affiliation Agreements) required between the educational institution and the clinical agency.
  • Have working knowledge of the HSP Net system for student clinical placements.
  • Communicates with other provincial clinical placement coordinators to optimize the use of clinical resources.
  • Be responsible for organizing the annual provincial Collaborative Clinical Placement Committee meetings and HSP Net user group meetings.
  • Oversees the maintenance of potential clinical placement sites (Affiliation Agreements).

QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION

  • Minimum qualification of a Bachelors of Science in Nursing. A Masters preferred
  • Additional education in Adult Learning and Education is considered an asset
  • Current Registration with the CRNBC
  • Nursing background, knowledge and experience
  • Extensive knowledge in curriculum development and implementation placement agencies and to troubleshoot learning issues

Here are some interview tips from our Career Centre.

DO

  1. Take a practice run to the location or know exactly where it is and how long it takes to get there.
  2. Research and practice for the interview.
  3. Dress the part of the job, company or industry.
  4. Plan to arrive 10-15 minutes early. Late arrival for a job interview is never excusable. If running, do phone the company.
  5. Make a first impression once you entered the building. Yes, even with the receptionist or assistant.
  6. Fill out job applications neatly, completely and accurately.
  7. Bring an extra resume.
  8. Greet the interviewer’s by title and last name. If not sure how to pronounce, ask the receptionist before going into the interview.
  9. Shake hands firmly with the interviewer.
  10. Maintain eye contact.
  11. Showcase your skills and talents by providing examples.
  12. Show off the research you conducted about the company or industry.
  13. Turn off your phone.
  14. Ask intelligent questions.
  15. Try to get the business card or complete contact information of the interviewer to send thank you letters within 24 hours after the interview.

DON’T

  1. Fidget or slouch.
  2. Tell jokes.
  3. Use poor language, slang and pause words (such as “like,” “uh,” and “um’).
  4. Say anything negative about former colleagues, supervisors or employers.
  5. Lie. Answer questions truthfully, frankly and succinctly.
  6. Answer questions with a simple “yes” or “no.” Explain whenever possible.
  7. Bring up personal or family issues.
  8. Answer mobile phone calls during interview.
  9. Inquire about the compensation package until after you received a job offer.
